PHASE 1 80 DAY OBSESSION COMPLETE
Happy June everyone! We are at the halfway mark of the year and I'm personally at a half way mark with my workout challenge program called "80 Day Obsession" with Autumn Calabrese. Last time we talked about health and fitness, we spoke about creating your own workout schedule, healthy habits to try, a little intro to intermittent fasting to getting out of a plateau and over all using all these tools for long time health and fitness results[ click here to read ].
I had heard about these home workouts for some time and was a little bit of a nay sayer to them until I found the right company and program to kick start my obsession into the home workout routine. Thanks to the Instagram feature of when you follow one thing, it suggest another I found the one person to get me hooked. My accountability coach and team leader Fran Azel. Where soon after I signed up she caught me up to speed and listened to my goals and understood my issues with my unreliable schedule. Which I soon realized I was headed back to the 5 am workouts. It had been almost 6 years since the last time I found myself signing up for those, but damn it's so worth it. I have zero interruption and zero excuse to not get my workout down!
I can honestly say I have not been back at the gym in 4 weeks because my schedule has been a little cray cray and these home workouts have not only saved me, but kept me on my toes in terms of toning up. I also (if you saw my car rants on my personal IG) was getting frustrated by the gym rats - the ones that show up for social hour and hog the weighted machines- and feeling unmotivated and disinterested in loosing my SH@t because of these people. lol So after following the main company on Instagram for some time and looking at all the great programs I knew I wanted to start with a long term fitness challenge. Then I found 80 Day obsession and fell in love with the energy of the trainer and creator, Autumn Calabrese. She may be tiny but she is fierce! She's a " take no B.S." kind of gal but shows her sweet empowering side often. Which is my favorite kind of combo obviously...
I currently just finished DAY 40 (which is in Phase 2 of 3) and will be sharing a little before and after of Phase 1 (26 days in) below.
What is 80 day obsession?
Let's break down the daily workouts:
Equipment - resistance loops, slides, weights (light, medium, heavy), a comfort map (I use my yoga mat and bend in half if I need extra cushion), towel and lots of water!
Target has been having a clearance sale on Gaiam weights FYI, but you will have to visit a store to find it!!!
• Total Body Core- "Work your entire body using compound (multi-joint) exercises designed to challenge your core and maximize strength gains and calorie burn."
• Booty-"Target your glutes with isolation exercises designed to help shape a firm, round butt."
• Cardio Core- "This lung-busting workout alternates low- and high-intensity cardio exercises with challenging core moves to enhance endurance, incinerate fat, and sculpt your abs."
• AAA which stands for Arms, Abs and A$$- "Your arms, abs, and @$$ are the focus of Autumn’s “Triple A” workout, which uses weights, resistance loops, and strength slides to build muscle and burn the fat that covers it."
• Legs- Build a leaner, stronger lower body with this challenging legs workout that hits your quads, hams, glutes, and calves from every angle.
• Cardio Flow- "This dynamic endurance workout uses progressively more intense rounds of primary movement patterns to challenge your mind, muscles, and stamina."
• Self Care Routines like “Roll and Release” and “Stretch and Release”- Sunday is your rest day, however these self care days can be done anytime in your 80 Day Fix to stretch and massage away soreness and also to increase your flexibility.
Not only is this a physical program with a planned out schedule, but this program offers you a complete guide and schedule on timed nutrition. With portion control and timed out how many hours before and after you should have certain meals along side your workout of the day. She helps to ensure that you don't plateau and lean out by the end of the program. There are low carb weeks and also days where she wants you to add carbs to you diet.
Now, I haven't been super strict on the nutritional aspect in the sense that I have a special and sensitive stomach to eating prior to my workout. I am getting up at 5AM to work out just a few feet from my bed. lol. I am not going to decorate my room with breakfast all over the floor. However I still enjoy my clean eating 5-6X a week and I do treat myself on the weekends, but AVOID BINGE TREATING!!!
The one thing I am also consistent and have seen a significant change is from my dense nutrition shakes!!! Due to my sensitive stomach I got vegan chocolate. There are a ton of other flavors, but I love chocolate so much that this really satisfies my sweet cravings and I feel like I'm cheating everyday come lunch time. lol. Seriously my hair, skin and energy has been incredible compared to what it was before. I was feeling so drained the first quarter of the year, but these shakes have become a lifesaver. Im also lazy and forgetful of my vitamins and this has helped me take them on the daily!
What dense nutrition is inside the shakes?
I do the vegan shakes so I have everything but the whey in it.

So I choose to always improve and always find lifestyle habits that bring me joy. The extra bonus to all of this is I get to be surrounded by like minded individuals who are all in different stages in their lives and want to improve and work on the best version of themselves. I get to bring my mom, sister and friends along this journey. We get to work towards our goals together. Some days are easier than other some days we want to stuff an entire cake in our faces, but we help each other. The days we fail on nutrition or if someone skips a day, we push one another to get the work done. We know that we have the opportunity to make things right if we are willing to put in the work.

So onto my PHASE 1, a total of 26 DAYS of 80 DAY OBSESSION before & after.
My overall physical Goal: TONE, LEAN OUT FROM HEAD TO TOE.
The photo on the left was my slowly establishing a low carb diet and a few times a week weight lifting routine. Though I was still being lazy about my lower half and not toning to the potential I could. This was for a photoshoot for local boutique and I was inside super self conscious because I can work my upper half with angles, but my one shape thighs are at best with a knee raise. I'm also not saying that I hated my body before, I just wasn't feeling my best and know what it was like to be toned some years back. The photo to the right is me finishing phase 1 and feeling damn good! Although I'm currently on day 40 I'm excited to see how far I can take my body. I'm excited to check off each workout and even more pleased with increase weight on each exercise as the weeks progress. You should really see the before and afters of 80Day all over the gram! It's incredible. So many walks of life all committing to their selves in the best way possible.
Anyway, I wanted to share this great choice in physical fitness at home (and yes all these workouts and other programs can be streamed and taken to the gym incase you wanted to use their equipment instead of purchasing your own.).
